The human voice is the only instrument that is completely alive.
Apart from the musical abilities that are inherent to learning any instrument, (pitch, rhythm, music theory) it is necessary to acquire some skills or coordinations in order to use your voice properly, for speaking (public speaking, lectures, leadership) as much as for singing (endurance, range, volume and quality).
The current researches have brought a new understanding and have made it possible to develop approaches that are based on the anatomical reality of the human organism.
These approaches are called functional in opposition to the approaches called traditional.
The difference is in how the method can or can't adapt itself to the needs of each individual. The goal is for the teacher to understand what is really happening in the body of the student and to create an adapted rebalancing for that student. Traditional approaches often tend to offer identical solutions for all, therefore limiting drastically their efficiency and frustrating those for whom these ready-made solutions do not work.
Functional approaches offer a rebalancing of the coordinations of the student, who, if he or she is dedicated to the work, finds a way to access potential.
My method is based on the work and research of many internationnal specialists to whom I will be forever thankful and respectful of their huge input.
I have put together the researches of various functional approaches in order to gain a view of the bigger picture. This has allowed me to see that there are three kinds of coordinations that are essential for the use of the human voice.
